Damiana has been used in Mexico, as well as Central and South America since the times of the ancient Aztec. It has long been used as a sexual tonic. It was, at first, used primarily by women who drank damiana tea prior to lovemaking. Damiana is known to have a calming, sometimes euphoric effect, which has been used in modern times to ease the mind and redirect sexual energy into a creative endeavor.
